New Study Finds GPS Use May Dumb Us Down as We Age

A new study out of McGill University in Montreal (Helloooo Alouettes!) hows that continued GPS usage may reduce hippocampus function, which is directly involved in memory and navigation processes. Geo-spatial intelligence correlates highly with overall intelligence measures.

It’s not just your imagination, the more you rely on your GPS, the worse you get at directing yourself.

Potential New Treatment Path for Alzheimer’s Disease

Studies at Temple University have shown a protein called 5-lipoxygenase may play a regulatory role in the formation of the amyloid beta in the brain, which is believed to be a component of plaques implicated in the development of Alzheimer’s.

Could this be the start of a major breakthrough in Alzheimer’s research, even the first step towards a cure for Alzheimer’s?
